West Parkland Gas Co-op (WPG) is a natural gas cooperative in Alberta that was formed on May 12, 1972. WPG provides natural gas to over 5200 members across Parkland County, Stony Plain, and the Village of Spring Lake and continues to grow.

What will I be doing?

Reporting to the Propane Lead Hand, the Shop Hand is responsible for maintaining an organized, clean and safe yard, assisting with propane tank exchange operations, and supporting general shop duties.

· Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe yard, ensuring propane tanks are properly stored.

· Responsible for removing debris, garbage, and potential hazards from the yard.

· Assisting with seasonal maintenance including snow and ice removal, lawn care, and general upkeep.

· Responsible for keeping the shop, vehicles, and work areas clean and organized.

· Assist in fueling, charging, and moving company vehicles when required.

· Perform minor building maintenance, including changing light bulbs, painting, and basic repairs.

· Perform parts and supply run as needed.

· Assist in inspecting, washing, painting, sleeving, and capping propane tanks as needed.

· Ensure that tanks are stored and rotated properly to meet operational requirements.

· Monitor propane levels in the dispenser and report refilling needs as required.

What do I need to succeed?

· High School diploma is required.

· A minimum of 1-2 years of commercial painting is preferred with proper safety guidelines.

· Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with paint equipment (training provided).

· H2S, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG are required.

· Ability to work alone and independently.

· Effective verbal and written communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.

· Strong prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.

· Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to work quickly while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy.

· Ability to make responsible decision in accordance with prescribed policies and regulations.

· Exhibit strong personal values, integrity and hands-on work habits.

· Physical demands: Able to lift 50 lb (23 kg), walk/stand for extended periods, and work outdoors year-round with frequent reaching, bending, and pushing/pulling.

· Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) required and a safe driving record.
